Zakari Saye‘s visit to Burley in May/June 2009

Zakari is the boy who started the link by sending letters and drawings. (How it all began )
After Zakari finished school in Téréli he went first to the Catholic Mission School in Pel and then onto Segou. Here he passed his Baccalaureate examinations and gained a place at Medical School in Bamako. In February 2009 Zakari qualified as a doctor. Burley-Téréli Friendship Trust invited Zakari to come to Burley to celebrate his success.
Zakari had a full programme of events in Burley many of which are shown in the photographs. He was able to give us the latest news about Téréli Secondary School.(More )
Dr. Pam, and other donors, were able to equip him with several pieces of medical kit. In London he met doctors who were about to travel overland to Mali with medical equipment. (Malimedics) Zakari will meet up with them when they arrive in Bamako.
We hope everyone has gained from Zakari's visit and we wish him success in his career and in his search for a job in Mali.
